What comes out

Every format is rendered from the same trace, so the PDF, the EPS and the PNG all show exactly what the preview showed.

SVG

Plain paths and fills — no scripts, no embedded raster — the file Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, Figma and cutting and design apps import. Unsized, it is byte-identical to the traced document; give it a width and that is written into the file.

PDF

A print-ready vector page sized to a measurement: 100 mm wide is 100 mm on the page. Multi-tone’s translucent layers carry over exactly.

EPS

The classic vector for Illustrator-class and sign apps. Not offered for Multi-tone, because PostScript has no translucency — the card says so rather than exporting something wrong.

PNG

A clean raster of the traced result at 1×, 2× or 4× of the source, for decks, documents and previews.

Colour traces come out as one layer per ink, top layer first. Group by color joins same-colour layers wherever that cannot change the picture, so your editor sees fewer objects.

Three ways to trace

B&W

One fill, transparent background: ink on paper, a single-colour logo, a stencil. Threshold is automatic; flip Light artwork on dark background for white-on-black.

Multi-tone

Two to four grey levels stacked as translucent layers: pencil shading, a wash, a photo you want as a poster.

Colour

The palette is counted from the artwork itself — shading and glows count once, and flat artwork seats every ink it has, up to 24. Colour and shaded artwork opens here automatically.

What goes in

PNG and JPG, up to 30 MB. Drop a WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, BMP or TIFF and the app names the format and asks for a PNG or JPG export; drop an SVG and it tells you the file is already a vector. This converter goes one way — raster to vector — and does not turn SVG files into other formats.

Anything larger than about 4.5 MB is scaled down in your browser before upload, because that is what a single request to our hosting platform can carry, and the app says so next to the original’s size. The SVG is resolution-independent either way; a very large scan is simply traced at reduced resolution.

The preview is free. The file is the paid part.

Measured, not promised

Every change to the tracing engine runs against a fixed corpus of 44 traces before it ships — logos, wordmarks, clip art, scans, screenshots, phone photos — and each row is gated on pixel similarity, edge structure, speck count, anchor count and time. A change that regresses a gate does not ship. Engine v0.19, the version tracing your file today, holds all 44.

Questions people ask before converting

Which format should I download?

SVG for anything that will be edited, scaled or cut; PDF for print and for placing in documents; EPS for older Illustrator-class and sign apps; PNG at 1×, 2× or 4× when you need a clean raster. Every format is rendered from the same trace, and the plan covers all of them.

Does it convert SVG to PNG?

No. This converter goes one way, raster to vector: a PNG or JPG in, a vector out. Drop an SVG and it tells you the file is already a vector. The PNG card on the Download screen exports a raster of a traced result, not of an arbitrary SVG.

Is the SVG editable?

Yes. It is plain paths with fills, and a Colour trace comes out as one group per ink in paint order, so an editor shows you the artwork’s colours as separate objects. Hide, recolour or merge layers before downloading and the file reflects it.

How many colours can the SVG have?

Auto counts the artwork’s own inks — shading, glows and shadows count once — and on flat artwork it seats every ink it finds, up to 24. The Palette size slider sets 2 to 16 by hand when you want fewer or more.

Is the output the same every time?

Yes. The same image with the same settings produces the same file, byte for byte. There is no randomness in the path from your pixels to the curves, and the evaluation run asserts it three times on every row.

Is the preview really the full result?

Yes. The preview is a server-rendered picture of the finished vector at full quality — no watermark, no reduced detail, every control live. Zoom to 8× and each level is rendered again from the vector; switch on Outlines and you are looking at the curve network itself. What the plan adds is the file.

What does the plan cost, and how do I cancel?

One plan: $9.99 a month in US dollars, priced at parity with vectorizer.ai’s US plan. It unlocks unlimited SVG, PDF, EPS and PNG downloads, with your layer edits applied.

Cancel any time from the billing portal — the link is emailed to you, since there is no account to log into. Access runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and a first subscription has a 14-day no-questions refund. The terms state both.

Do I need an account?

No. Previews need nothing at all. Buying needs an email address at checkout; your access is tied to that address and comes back on any device through a one-time emailed link. There is no password and nothing to sign into.

What happens to my image after I upload it?

It is sent to our server, traced in memory and rendered for the preview. It is not written to disk and not kept after the request, beyond a short in-memory cache so that zooming does not trace it again. The privacy page describes exactly what is processed and by whom.

Why does my gradient come out as bands?

Colour mode builds the SVG from a palette of flat inks, so a smooth gradient becomes a few flat steps. That is what this converter is for — logos, clip art, flat artwork — and it is where photographs and gradient-heavy designs come back posterized. The preview shows exactly what the file would contain, before any payment.
